Pediatric Therapy Programs

Throughout the year, Fisher-Titus Medical Center's Pediatric Team has a variety of programs for preschoolers and school-aged children. Listed here are a number of programs in session this summer.   

IN SESSION THIS SUMMER:  2016

SMILE Group -“Sensory Motor Integrated Learning Experience” for children who have autism spectrum disorders

A seven-week group designed for children with autism spectrum and/or sensory disorders. This group will provide fun and structured play/learning experiences with basic social skills included. Emphasis will be on sensory and motor activities, including simple obstacle courses, finger plays, tactile play, snack time, group games, and fine motor coordination games.

When: Wednesdays, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Dates: 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10
Ages: 3-6
Cost: $150.00

Dance and Performance Camp

A week-long dance camp that culminates with a dance recital that is featured in our “ASK Evening at the Arts!” At Dance and Performance Camp children will learn themed, structured dance routines that are fun and educational. This camp promotes social skills, builds confidence, and improves motor coordination in a fun group environment. This group is appropriate for children who are ages 5-10 and children who have autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, developmental, and neurological disorders.

When: Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. - Noon
Dates: 7/11-7/15 with performance on Friday, 7/15
Ages: 5-10
Cost: $150.00

ASK Cheer Camp! NEW THIS YEAR!

A week-long cheer camp that culminates with a cheer performance that is featured in our “ASK Evening at the Arts!” This camp promotes social skills, builds confidence, and improves motor coordination in a fun group environment. This group is appropriate for children who are ages 10-18 and children who have autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, developmental, and neurological disorders.

When: Monday Through Friday, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Dates: 7/11-7/15 with performance on Friday, 7/15
Ages: 10-18
Cost: $100.00

Drawing on Strengths- Art Therapy Group

A week-long program designed to help children who have autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities, ages 7 years old and up, develop self-expression, self-esteem, coping skills, and creativity through art in a small group setting. The children’s art will be on display at “ASK Evening at the Arts!” on July 15.

When: Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Dates: 6/14, 6/21, 6/28, 7/12 with Art Show on Friday, 7/15
Ages: 7 and up
Cost: $150.00

Creative Campers

This week-long program is designed to promote social skills, language skills, and problem solving abilities during fun summer activities and crafts. Children will engage in activities such as pottery, gardening, and other fun hands-on summer activities. Material fees are included with the cost of the program. This group is for children ages 7 and up who have autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, and other neurological disorders.

When: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. - Noon
Dates: 8/1-8/4
Ages: 7 and up
Cost: $100.00

Adapted Cooking Camp

A week-long program to promote children’s independence and problem solving abilities in a small group setting focused on teamwork and communication. Children will learn to meal plan, cook, and critique foods together. Material fees are included with cost of program. This group is appropriate for children who have autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, developmental, and neurological disorders.

When: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. - Noon
Dates: 7/25-7/28
Ages: 7 and up
Cost: $150.00

Fine Motor Follies

A six-week program that helps children who are having difficulty with drawing, cutting, coloring, and writing. This group works on foundational fine motor skills and can be used as a primer for the “Printing Made Easy” group. Children must have turned four years of age by March 1 to participate in this program.

When: Fridays, 9 - 10:30 a.m.
Dates: 6/24, 7/1, 7/8, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5
Ages: 4-5
Cost: $150.00

Printing Made Easy

This six-week group will focus on incorporating all of our senses to improve the basic skills involved in handwriting and will utilize the “Handwriting Without Tears” program. This combination creates successful printing skills in children who are struggling with letter formation, spacing and line placement. This group is appropriate for children who are already doing well with coloring, cutting, and drawing but still need help with their printing skills.

When: Fridays, 12:30 - 2 p.m.
Dates: 6/24, 7/1, 7/8, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5
Ages: 5-7
Cost: $150.00
