Fisher-Titus Medical Center’s Imaging Services offers a comprehensive array of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services using advanced imaging technology in a patient and family friendly facility. Our new state-of-the-art Imaging Services department is easily accessible providing patients one convenient location to have all their testing done close to home.
Our New Imaging Services Facility
Our new Imaging Services Department was designed to provide patients and their families a comfortable, private, family-friendly area to receive testing and screenings. In addition, the department’s new location and physical layout provide faster access to key service areas such as the Emergency Department. The department’s spacious seating area features a light wall of X-ray images of maple leaves in recognition of Norwalk’s heritage as The Maple City. The unique artwork is carried throughout the department with X-ray images of plants and flowers providing a warm ambience in a very “technical” environment. In addition to the main seating area, each testing modality has a private, comfortable area for patients awaiting their tests. High windows throughout the space provide natural light without compromising patient privacy.
State-of-the-Art Technology / Advanced Accreditations
All of our imaging procedures use advanced state-of-the-art imaging technology. Our MRI, CT, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine modalities are accredited by the American College of Radiology demonstrating our continued commitment to quality care and patient safety. Our Ultrasound is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
Our Patient Care Team
Under the leadership of the Medical Director of Imaging Services, Dr. William Ferber, more than 60,000 imaging procedures are performed each year. Our staff is here 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide imaging services to the community. Our team of imaging professionals, including highly trained and experienced physicians and technologists, perform and interpret all imaging procedures with the utmost precision so patients receive the most accurate diagnosis possible.
All of our staff members are registered in their areas of expertise. On staff we have:
- Physicians who are radiologists. They are board certified by the American College of Radiology.
- Radiological technologists who are Registered Radiological Technologists
- Nuclear medicine technologists who are Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologists
- Ultrasound technologists who are Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
- Staff members who participate in ongoing continuing education to remain certified/licensed within their areas of expertise.
Our PACS System
Our radiologists use advanced electronic imaging technologies to ensure the quality and efficiency of our services. Our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) gives physicians instant access to images and their results, whenever and wherever they need them via a secure computer server. Within seconds, the radiologist can pull up the image on a screen, read it and make notations on the record for the patient’s doctor. With the click of a mouse, the image is on its way to the patient’s physician. While many hospitals have installed PACS within the last five years, Fisher-Titus has been using the advanced technology for 15 years.
For non-emergency Imaging Services, patients can schedule their exams with an order from their physician. When scheduling a test, the scheduler will provide you with instructions about your specific test, so you know what to expect before and when you arrive. We keep patients informed and every step of the way, and aim to keep you comfortable in any way we can.
Of course, as a 24/7 hospital, our Imaging Services are available to our medical staff in the event of an unplanned or emergency need for all patients. In fact, our Imaging Services department is strategically situated adjacent to our Emergency Services Department to provide quick access to services for emergent patients.
